A friend of mine started a software development firm called Rassar. I promised to help with his new employees, a group of new graduates just out of college. Though they have MCA (Master of Computer Applications) degrees and have attended Java / J2EE training programs from certified vendors, they sadly lack a good understanding of the subject. This I attribute to the lack of good faculty both at our colleges, particularly the second tier colleges and the local training institutions. It seems our teachers no longer teach their students how to learn. They just make sure that the students pass their exams. This is accomplished with the aid of lecture notes dictated by the teacher, copied tutorials, and rote memorization. The end result is a class of graduates who have no clue about their subject because they didn’t really do any work. These poor souls paid good money to enter college and earn their degrees but are almost completely unemployable. Anyway, I have the difficult task of helping this group learn all the stuff they should already know, so that they can work on a software development project. Otherwise I will end of doing all the coding myself and we just cannot afford to do that. In view of this I am putting together a series of lectures that I record in my spare time and make available here.
This then is the history behind this section. I hope to add to it over time as I learn new things about programming.
